JJ Adler

JJ Adler is a director and writer who helped create comedy spots for all kinds of companies including GEICO, P&G, SC Johnson, Virgin Mobile, Nestle, Coke, Verizon, McDonalds, Pepperidge Farms, etc., and with The Martin Agency, McCann, R/GA, Mother, Droga5, Ogilvy & Mather, Grey, DDB, VMLY&R, PKT, JWT, BBDO, and many more. 

She was a founding creative and Head Director at The Onion’s Peabody award winning webseries "The Onion News Network” as well as co-executive producer and director on season 1 of the The Onion's 2011 IFC TV series. Her short dark comedy, NEW MEDIA premiered at Sundance where it won several awards. And in 2008 her short doc Unattached won a Student Oscar, prompting her mother to instantly drop the word “student” and proclaim her daughter an Oscar winner.

Adler is currently on the roster of Creativity A-list production company m ssng p eces in the US, Circle Productions in Canada, HunkyDory Films in the UK, and Hobby Film in Scandinavia. In 2018 she released a short film, Places, Thank You Places written by and starring Gary Richardson (SNL). 

JJ recently directed sketches all across Netflix’s upcoming Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show, premiering December 6th 2019. Currently, she’s either working on her first feature, directing commercials, or talking to her dog in a very embarrassing voice.

JJ Adler holds an M.F.A. in film directing from Columbia University and thinks advanced film degrees are of dubious value.
